From a band with a questionable name, comes a glimmer of hope for many this Christmas. Included with this glimmer is also a call to action and selfless example that should be embodied through each of us. Back in September of this year, the Toronto based punk band, F—ked Up, was awarded the Polaris Music Prize and $20,000 for the best Canadian album of the past year. F—ked Up is not only using this money to build on success, but they have taken the opportunity to give back.
In 1984, Band Aid released a song written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise charitable support during the 1984-1985 famine in Ethiopia. This successful song included the voices and contributions of a number of celebrities and hit the charts to make history on the UK Singles Chart as the biggest selling single.
