ADVERTISING STRATEGY: Executive Summary (Cont.)

ExecSummary

There is always a goal in mind when you are marketing a band.  At this point, you should be making good music and looking for ways to get noticed.  Band promotion begins with a plan.  Whether your goal is to get on warped tour or get the word out for your first show, your preparation will determine your success.

I discussed earlier the importance of developing a solid plan for advertising a new band.  Although any band would do well to think through these things, a band that is just starting out with little capital and experience will likely handle all advertising efforts on their own.  As I walk through a typical advertising plans book layout, Breakthrough Band will create its own advertising strategy along these guidelines.

In the previous Advertising Strategy article, I highlighted the Executive Summary.  For our purposes, this is a set of parameters and guardrails to keep the strategy focused and directed.  A work in progress, this Executive Summary may change and evolve.  After the plans book is completed for you band, this will act as an introduction to your plan.

Executive Summary: Breakthrough!

I split up the executive summary for this blog to hit 3 main points.  The points reflect the current situation, the consumer, and the budget.  The summary as a whole weaves the image and goals of Breakthrough Band through these three points to give off an overall picture into what this blog is about and where it is going.  Similarly, for your band, you must go through each of these points and articulate where you plan to take your band.

Simply grab a pen and paper or sit down at your computer and type 4 or 5 paragraphs about what you are doing and where you plan to take your band.  This summary will determine the direction of your advertising strategy.
